Fitchburg High School was placed on lockdown around 11 a.m. after staff learned that someone had possibly brought a gun to school, the Fitchburg Public Schools said on Facebook.

First responders were called to the building, located at 140 Arnhow Farm Road in Fitchburg, to investigate the incident.

About 30 minutes later, it was determined that there was no weapon or threat, and school activities were allowed to resume normally, FPS said in another Facebook post.

"More information may follow from school administration as appropriate," FPS said.
