Highbrow, located in Northampton, offers just what its name implies, "highbrow," pizzas and entrees that are off the beaten path when it comes to Italian food.

Some favorites include such delicacies as the peppercorn encrusted New York strip to the Szechwan tofu, oh, and a plethora of interesting wood-fired pizza choices that come out of the 1,000-degree oven sizzling with flavor.

They also offer a wood-fire chicken entree, and a truffle pizza, as well as fried goat cheese balls, and Highbrow calamari.

Sound interesting? Plenty of Yelpers think so and don't hesitate to offer five-star reviews.

"Our first time dining here!," said a Yelper. "We just moved to the area from Boston and couldn't say more good things about HighBrow. Delicious food, super flavorful, and awesome staff!!!! I'm a huge ahi tuna fan and this one knocked the ball out of the park."

Diners also pointed to the cocktails and wings as "must-haves" when visiting Highbrow.

Another Yelper said: "This place is a total vibe: hip outdoor seating and decorations, classic rock music, and friendly service. Got the Buffalo-ish wings and was blown away by the sweet yet tangy sauce and perfectly crispy wings. Would come back any day!"

Some pizza choices, which can be gluten-free, include such choices as a braised short rib and grilled red onion to shredded duck confit to a truffle pie.

"The food was so amazing," said still another reviewer. "Had three different pizzas, wings and calamari appetizers and awesome beers and cocktails."

So, if different and unique is something you are looking for, head for Highbrow.

Prices and moderate to high. Waits can be long (in case you have children in tow).

The restaurant is located at 12 Crafts Ave., Northampton.
