Holyoke residents Johnluis Sanchez, age 30, and Alejandro Ramos, age 22, were both arrested in connection to a shooting on Wednesday, Oct. 4 that resulted in the death of an infant, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday, Oct. 6.

Police have identified the man they say killed a grandmother and shot two of her grandchildren in a Springfield home Monday, Aug. 14, before he turned the gun on himself.
Victor Nieves, 34, of Springfield, is believed to have killed Kim Fairbanks, 52, of Springfield, at 174 Berkshire Ave. just after 2:30 p.m., the Hampden District Attorney's Office said. Fairbanks' three grandchildren — ages 12, 10, and 5 — were also in the home at the time of the attack. Two were seriously wounded.
