Jack Douglas Teixeira, a member of the United States Air Force National Guard in Massachusetts, was arrested in the afternoon of Thursday, April 13, according to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Teixeira's arrest is part of the investigation into the unauthorized removal and publication of classified government and military documents.

The FBI reported that they took Teixeira into custody at his home in North Dighton, located in Bristol County in southeastern Massachusetts without incident.

FBI officials remained at his home after his arrest to investigate the residence.

"Since late last week the FBI has aggressively pursued investigative leads, and today's arrest exemplifies our continued commitment to identifying, pursuing, and holding accountable those who betray our country's trust and put our national security at risk," said a Tweet sent by the FBI's account.

The headquarters for all branches of the Massachusetts National Guard is located in Hanscom, Massachusetts.

The leak is still under investigation by the Attorney General's office, FBI, Justice Department prosecutors, and the Department of Defense.
