Man In Wheelchair Hit, Killed By Cement Truck In South Boston

Update: Police identified the victim in Tuesday's crash as a 57-year-old man. His name is being witheld pending family notification.

The driver of the cement truck is a 53-year-old Medford man who was driving a truck owned by Boston Sand and Gravel. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries following the crash. 

Original Report: A cement truck struck and killed a wheelchair-bound man just after 10:10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, in South Boston, authorities said. 

The crash happened near Frontage Road and Traveler St. It's unclear if the man was on the road or the sidewalk when he was hit.

The man's name was not released as police are still notifying his next of kin. 

Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed.
