Investigators ID Causes Of Fatal Fires In Newton, Lowell; Victims ID'd Fire investigators believe they've identified the culprit behind two fatal fires in Newton and Lowell earlier this month — smoking materials.  The first fire was reported on Farmland Road in Lowell on March 16. Investigators say the blaze began in the back left corner of the second floor near a bed.  Charles Bearden, 56, died in the blaze, and an unidentified person was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.    Lowell Fire Chief Phillip A.J. Pet Cat Dies, Another Rescued In Dracut Fire That Displaced Family Of 4 Firefighters cut through walls to put out a two-alarm fire and rescued one pet cat, but the burning led to the death of another cat and the displacement of a family of four, officials say.  A two-story, single-family home on Lakeview Avenue caught on fire around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, according to the Dracut Fire Department.
