(Update) 54-Year-Old ID'd As Man Who Drowned In Byfield River: DA A 54-year-old was identified as the man who drowned in a fast-moving river in Byfield on Thursday, Jan. 11, authorities said.  David Harwood, of Byfield, died after he got tangled in some brush in the Parker River near Forest and River streets, the Essex County District Attorney said. Witnesses said the fast-moving current prevented him from getting free.  A bystander waded into the water to help but couldn't reach him.  No foul play is suspected.
