Meat Again Inc., located at 306 Boston Road in North Billerica, was founded in 1978 and permanently closed on Sunday, March 26, according to the company website.

The butcher shop and deli was opened by Dan O'Brien when he was 26 years old. When O'Brien died of cancer in October 2010 at only 58 years old, he passed the family business on to his son, Kevin O'Brien.

"When Dan O'Brien first opened the doors to Meat Again in 1978, he wanted to create a welcoming business for the community to gather, and he certainly did so," the announcement on the company's website reads. "He was a true shopkeeper in every sense of the word and passed that tradition on to his sons."

The shop, which calls itself a "meat-lovers' paradise," kept customers stocked with steak tips, ribeyes, house made sirloin patties, homemade sausages, fresh kielbasa, and more.

"Every holiday I drive 45 minutes to meat again deli to pick up a five bone prime rib for the family," said one glowing Google review. "The quality and customer service never disappoints. Super clean and professional and service you just can’t get at a grocery store."

"The O'Brien family would like to thank the communities of Billerica and Westford, family, friends, and all our customers for their patronage and support for nearly half a century," said the website statement.
