'Barbaric Attack': 2 Men Who Burned Victim During Springfield Home Invasion Sentenced Two men found guilty of torturing and permanently disfiguring a Springfield man during a 2019 home invasion were sentenced to decades in prison on Thursday, June 27, authorities said.  Paul Gayle, 30, and Malik Erskine, 24, both of Springfield, were found guilty of multiple violent felonies in the "barbaric attack," Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni. Markendall Johnson, now 21, who was charged as a youthful offender because of his age on the day of the robbery, was also convicted in the case. Accused Rapist Sliced Woman's Throat With Box Cutter On Springfield Sidewalk: Police A man who is accused of slicing a woman's neck with a box cutter as she was walking down a street in Springfield on Sunday, May 12, has been arrested, police said.  Jovan Murphy, 31, of Springfield, faces multiple felonies for the alleged attack, Springfield police said.  The victim told police she was walking along the 100 block of Union Street around 3:45 a.m. when an unknown man began to follow her. 'Mayhem': Central Mass Woman Bit Another's Lip During Worcester Break-In If you can't beat 'em, bite 'em. That's what police said one Worcester County woman did during a break-in at a home in Worcester earlier this week.  Valdirene Da Cruz is charged with mayhem, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, and breaking and entering during the nighttime to commit a felony, Milford police said.  Da Cruz and two men broke into a Milford home around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21. A fight broke out during the incident between Da Cruz and a woman inside the home. That's when police say Da Cruz bit the woman's lip, causing "deep lacerations." The injured …
