A 16-year-old singer from Lexington, Massachusetts, made a smashing debut on "American Idol" on Sunday, Feb. 25, but for a talent outside of singing. Shriya Jha appeared on the episode with several other Hollywood hopefuls, but her audition was much more violent than other previous tryouts. Shriya, a talented singer and second-degree-black belt in karate, showed judge Katy Perry how to break a board with her head. A Massachusetts resident with a self-proclaimed "trailer park mouth" just barely made it onto a national singing competition after nailing her rendition of one of the judge's songs. Sierra Harris said her trailer park attitude came from her upbringing in Lexington during her "American Idol" audition last week. A Connecticut teenager wowed the judges in her audition for singing competition American Idol. Hartford resident Scarlet Ayliz sang a song she wrote called "Bleeding" in the episode that aired Sunday, March 27. "Super-duper commercial-sounding voice," judge Luke Bryan said after listening to the song. "Like superstardom commercial."
