The latest shooting happened on Mountain View Drive in Belchertown on Friday afternoon, March 29, when a bullet shattered a sliding glass door, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said.
No one was at home at the time of the shooting and there were no injuries reported. The family returned home that evening to find the broken glass.
Police found the bullet and sent it to the State Police lab for testing and identification.
This is the second time a stray bullet has hit a house on Mountain View Drive.
A round shattered the front door of a home on June 27. No one was hurt in that incident either.
Police said Mountain View Drive is located along the Belchertown/Granby town line and is about a mile east of the Granby Bow and Gun Club. Though, it's unclear if that's where the bullets are being fired.
“These incidents have understandably caused the residents of this neighborhood a tremendous amount of fear and concern for their safety,” said Belchertown Police Chief Kevin Pacunas. “We are doing everything we can to determine where these errant bullets are coming from, and to prevent it from happening again.”
