Intoxicated Driver Caused Near-Fatal Crash On Mass Pike In Central Mass: Police A 37-year-old Worcester County man faces multiple felony charges after police say he crashed his pickup truck into a box truck on the Massachusetts Turnpike Tuesday morning, Sept. 19, because he was high. Nathan Miranda, of Winchendon, was arrested and charged with OUI-Drugs, OUI-Drugs causing serious injury, possession of a Class B drug, and other motor vehicle offenses, Massachusetts State Police said.  The crash happened just before 9:15 a.m. near mile marker 82 in Charlton7 when Miranda's 2017 Dodge 1500 hit a box truck, police said. (Update) Standoff: Police Release Details On Incident Near Central Mass School Police said a standoff near Cushing Academy in Ashburnham Thursday morning, March 30, ended peacefully after a suspect who led officers on a chase locked himself in his truck near the Worcester County school and refused to come, Massachusetts State Police said.  The driver's name was not released.  The chase began in Winchendon after the driver assaulted an officer and sped away, authorities said. (Updated) 'They Will Be Missed': Police ID Two 23-Year-Olds Killed In Central Mass Crash Police in Worcester County identified two 23-year-olds as the victims killed in a head-on collision over the weekend, officials said.   Jasmine Colon, of Winchendon, and Nikolas Guzman, of Gardner, died in a two-car collision in Gardner just before 6 a.m. on Green Street in Gardner, authorities said. Investigators believe Colon was driving, and Guzman was her passenger. Gardner firefighters had to cut them from the vehicle, and both were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.  Paramedics rushed the driver of the other vehicle to a hospital in Worcester with serious injuries.
