'My Life Was Forever Changed': Women Raped By Ex-mbta Officer Talk Impact At His Sentencing A former MBTA transit police officer was sentenced to four to six years in prison this week after a jury found him guilty of raping two women more than a decade ago. The victims told the court that the trauma of that night has stayed with them like a specter and would likely be there long after he gets out of prison.  Shawn McCarthy, 50, formerly of Wilmington, was convicted on Friday, March 15, of three counts of rape stemming from an incident in 2012, the Suffolk County District Attorney said.
