A body was found in the waters of Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester after more than four hours of searching, authorities confirm to Daily Voice. Authorities are investigating in Hull after a woman drove her pickup truck into the water off Pemberton Point in Hull. Multiple crews responded to the area of 180 Main Street, near Hull Gut, around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, Hull Police and Fire said in a joint release. A four-day search for a 6-year-old boy who was swept into the Merrimack River has come to a close after a kayaker found a body authorities believe to be his. Massachusetts State Police announced that a body believed to be that of 6-year-old Mas DeChhat was located in the Pipers Quarry area of the river on the morning of Sunday, June 12. A wanted fugitive for illegal drug and firearm possession was nabbed by Massachusetts State Police after an hours-long hunt through waters and woods. Law enforcement officials are dealing with a spike in dirt bike thefts throughout Massachusetts, with Central Mass being hit the hardest. On Monday, Jan. 4, the Massachusetts Environmental Police warned the public about the methods criminals use to steal off-highway vehicles, or OHVs, in an effort to prevent more thefts. Hovercraft Used To Rescue Man Stranded On Ice Island In Hilltowns
Firefighters used a hovercraft to rescue an elderly man who had become trapped on an ice island in the middle of a lake Monday, Dec. 28. The man, who was not identified, was out hunting in the Knightville Dam area in Huntington when he became lost and found himself on a patch of ice 300 feet from shore, according to MassLive. Using a cell phone, the man was able to call 911 and dispatchers were able to ping his location in the Knigtville Basin. Hunters Accused Of Using Donuts To Lure Bear Face Charges
Criminal charges have been filed against hunters who allegedly killed a 200-pound bear they attracted using barrels of food such as donuts, molasses, and corn. The charges stem from an incident the Massachusetts Environmental Police in Western Massachusetts witnessed, police said. Back in September, an MEP officer allegedly saw two adults and a minor child dragging a 200-pound bear out of the woods, police said. Exotic Animal Smuggler In Worcester Sentenced For International Crimes
A man who was illegally smuggling salamanders and turtles has been found guilty and sentenced for the crimes. Nathan Boss, 27, of Worcester, was sentenced to two years of supervised release with the first five months to be served in home confinement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts said Monday, Oct. 5.
