One Person Killed In Early Morning Springfield Fire: Officials A woman who was injured in an early morning fire in Springfield has died from her injuries, state fire officials said.  Crews responded to the fire at 68 Federal Street just after 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, according to the Springfield Fire Department on Twitter. Investigators determined that the fire started in the living room.  Paramedics rushed a woman in her 60s to the hospital for treatment, where she later succumbed to her injuries, officials said Friday afternoon. Chicopee Man Waving Gun Nabbed With Drugs, Police Say A Western Massachusetts man was arrested after allegedly being caught with a high-capacity firearm and multiple illegal drugs. Hampden County resident Carlos Maldonado, age 32, of Chicopee, was arrested on Tuesday, July 6, after Springfield officers were dispatched to the intersection of Lincoln Street and Federal Street at approximately 1 p.m. for a firearm call, said Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police.
