Former Hockey Player From Region Dies At Age 23 Family and friends are mourning the death of a former standout hockey goalie from the region. Fairfield County native Charlie Capalbo, age 23, of the town of Fairfield, died Sunday, April 24, following a five-year battle with cancer, according to a GoFundMe page established for his family. “After five years and 745 nights spent in hospitals, let’s just say that one got by Charlie in the 4th overtime today,” reads a post from GoFundMe organizer John McCormick. HS Students Made Ncaa-type Bracket To Rank Girls, Principals Say March Madness got a little more maddening for some Connecticut educators in Fairfield County. Students at Fairfield Ludlowe and Fairfield Warde high schools are in hot water after allegedly collaborating to create an NCAA basketball tournament-like bracket to allow participants to “vote” on their female classmates. The brackets reportedly included the names of girls at both schools on the lines where teams would be listed on a traditional bracket, allowing students to vote.
