Fatal Shooting Victim ID'd In Springfield; 1 of 4 Gunned Down In City Last Week Police identified the man shot and killed on Thursday, Aug. 10, in Springfield's South End. He is one of four people gunned down in the city last week.  Gary White, 25, of Springfield, was shot just after 1:30 a.m. in the 500 block of East Columbus Avenue, Springfield police said. Stopped: Ex-con Allegedly In Possession Of A Firearm Arrested On a tip that there was an ex-con driving around Springfield in a rental car with a loaded gun, Springfield Police hit the streets to make an arrest Thursday, Aug. 13. After making a traffic stop, Brandon Murray, 33, of Dwight Street Extension, was arrested Thursday at around 6:10 p.m. at an East Columbus Avenue gas station, police said. Upon investigation, police allegedly found a loaded firearm in Murray’s pocket. I-91 Exits 4 and 5 Closed Morning Of Wed., Aug. 5 Traffic on I-91 in the Springfield area is a mess due to flooding caused by a nearby broken water main. Exits 4 and 5 are closed to traffic, according to State Police. The water main broke on East Columbus Avenue sometime before 6 a.m. The break has also flooded some city streets.
