Chicopee Cop Welcomed Home 175 Days After Post ‘Battle Of The Badges’ Heart Attack A Hampden County police officer who nearly died while being rushed to the hospital in the spring returned home to a hero's welcome over the weekend.  Chicopee Officer Mark Wilkes called 911 on March 13 after complaining he wasn't feeling well. He'd competed in the annual Battle of the Badges between the Chicopee police and fire departments earlier that day but didn't feel right after returning home.  Wilkes suffered a "serious medical event" in the ambulance, and paramedics had to perform CPR as they rushed him to the hospital, where Wilkes would remain for "175 long days." Officials later…

Child Found Unresponsive In Water At Beach In Western Mass, Police Say An 8-year-old girl found unresponsive at a Massachusetts beach was saved by CPR performed by bystanders. The incident took place in Berkshire County in Pittsfield around 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 24. Police, firefighters, and EMS responded to the Burbank Park public beach area at Onota Lake for an unresponsive child found in the water, said Lt. John Soules, of the Pittsfield Police Department.  Citizens on scene began administering CPR and responding emergency workers took over rescue measures upon their arrival, Soules said. Troopers Rescue Driver Who Suffered Medical Event On I-91 Connecticut State troopers helped rescue a limousine driver who suffered a medical event on I-91. Authorities received a report from one of the vehicle's passengers that the driver had experienced a medical event and was unconscious at about 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, State Police said.
