U.S. Rep. Richard Neal will debate challenger Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.

They are both running as Democrats to represent Massachusetts’ 1st Congressional District. The district includes Hampden and Berkshire counties as well as large sections of Hampshire and Franklin counties.

The primary election will be Sept. 1 to see who will represent the Democrats on the November ballot.

The hour-long debate will be the first between the two politicians. It will be moderated by veteran newsman Ray Hershel. The event was organized by The Republican and MassLive, New England Public Media, and The Berkshire Eagle.

You can catch the debate on WGBY,  New England Public Media on Channel 57, NEPR and it should be streaming live on MassLive, and the Berkshire Eagle online.

A second debate is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20 on WWLP.
