A 3-year-old golden retriever mix — emaciated and in dire need of help — was found wandering the streets in Brookline last week. Now, animal welfare authorities are looking for who allowed the dog to become so ill. Rescuers found the dog, who they are calling Brooke, near the intersection of Newton and Clyde streets in Brookline on Wednesday, Jan. 24, MSPCA officials said Monday. 2 Charged With Animal Abuse After Dog Found Starved With Broken Bones In Western Mass
A dog in Franklin County named Conrad was rescued from horrid conditions that left him emaciated, with several broken bones that had healed without being treated, and 20 small rocks in his stomach, the MSPCA said. But despite the abuse, Conrad's story may still have a happy ending. Yarras P. Fletcher and Aliah K. An animal rescue group is looking for a family to adopt a young dog experiencing physical and emotional pain after his owners gave him up following a tragic accident last month. Boston Proposal Would Fine Pet Shops For Selling Guinea Pigs In Addition To Cats, Dogs
Cage-bound pets will get the same protections cats and dogs have if a proposed ordinance passes, according to court documents. Boston City Councilor Liz Breadon proposed an update to the city's existing humane pet shop ordinance on Wednesday, March 22 that would prohibits the sale guinea pigs in pet shops in addition to existent restrictions on the sales of dogs, cats, and rabbits. 'Unstoppable' Puppy Makes Cross-Country Trek For Lifesaving Surgery In Mass
A homeless puppy who was literally facing life or death traveled from Arizona to Massachusetts for a surgery that ended up saving her, animal rescue officials said. Valentina, a 12-week-old Chocolate Lab, was surrendered to a private veterinary practice in Arizona, the MSCPA-Angell reports. The puppy was unable to keep food down and was later diagnosed with vascular ring anomaly. About a month after 20 cats were rescued from devastating flooding in Kentucky, the MSPCA-Angell and Northeast Animal Shelter (NEAS) have welcomed another 26 cats to Massachusetts. The organization announced Thursday, Aug. 11 that over 100 goats need new homes after they were rescued from a Dighton property in January.
