Orange Line Repairs Halfway Complete, Project On Schedule MBTA Boasts The MBTA announced recently that construction crews are halfway through repairs on the Orange Line, which puts the transit authority on schedule to reopen the second-busiest line later this month.  The MBTA closed the Orange Line on Aug. 19 to the dismay of hundreds of thousands of people who ride that arm of the commuter rail every day. MBTA: Orange Line Construction Incidents Will Not Derail Repair Schedule The MBTA says two recent construction incidents will not push back the date when the entire Orange Line is expected to be repaired.  The first incident occurred when the rear wheels of a stationary piece of equipment slipped off the rails just north of Wellington around 7:20 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, an MBTA spokesperson said. Investigators believe the rain and slick conditions could have caused this to happen.
