Cantaloupes Shipped To DMV Region Being Recalled For Salmonella Concerns
Thousands of cases of whole cantaloupes - many of which were shipped to the DMV region - are subject to a new recall, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced. Arizona-based Eagle Produce is voluntarily recalling 6,456 cases of cantaloupe that may be contaminated with Salmonella following a test at an FDA distribution center. Specifically, the recall includes Kandy whole cantaloupes with the UPC number code of 4050 on the package and lot codes of: 797901; 797900; 804918. Turtle Trafficker In VA Admits To Illegally Selling Animals To Buyers In MD: Feds
An elaborate turtle smuggling and trafficking ring orchestrated by a Virginia man has been broken up, federal officials announced this week. Louisa resident Stanlee Fazi, 41, pleaded guilty in federal court in Alexandria to trafficking turtles out of Fredericksburg in violation of the Lacey Act, according to the Department of Justice. As part of his guilty plea, Fazi admitted that between July 2017 and June 2020, he illegally collected eastern box turtles from the wild and sold them on at least 27 occasions to buyers across the country. Honda Recalls 564K SUVs For Cold Weather Rust Risk Concern
Hundreds of thousands of Honda SUVs are being recalled due to concerns that road salt could cause the frame of the vehicle to rust and unintentionally detach parts of the rear suspension. Maryland AG Reaches Massive Settlement with Google Over Location Tracking Practices
Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh has announced that his Consumer Protection Division as well as 39 other attorneys general have reached a $391.5 million multi-state settlement with Google over its location tracking practices relating to Google Account settings. Anti-Semitic Propaganda Under Investigation In Maryland Communities
Anti-Semitic propaganda has been plastered throughout communities in Calvert County, the sheriff's office advised. The Calvert County Sheriff's Office announced that it is investigating the littering of anti-Semitic propaganda that has been strewn throughout several neighborhoods in the region.
