A 77-year-old woman from Montgomery County was killed and a man taken to the hospital following a two-car crash Monday afternoon, March 11, police said. It happened at the intersection of Layhill Road and Bel Pre Road shortly before 2:35 p.m. Maria Perdomo, of Silver Spring, was making a left turn from northbound Layhill Road onto westbound Bel Pre Road in a red 2013 Subaru Outback when she collided with a black 2019 Tesla Model Y that was heading southbound on Layhill Road. A fugitive wanted for the attempted murder of his twin sister in Maryland was captured just short of the New York State line in New Jersey following a nearly hour-long pursuit, authorities confirmed on Monday, Dec. 4. Reese E. Wetzel, 23, of Ellicott City, MD stabbed his sister multiple times during an argument, then stole her car and headed north, police in Edison, NJ, said. Maryland Couple Killed In NJ Crash
An elderly pair from Maryland was killed in a crash Tuesday evening, June 13 in Highland Park, authorities said. A Mercedes driven by Abeer Viriani, 34, of Iselin, struck a Subaru occupied by Peter Palmer, 75, of Easton, MD, and Carol Paul, 77, of Easton, MD, around 5:30 p.m. at Route 27 and North 10 Street, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Hundreds of thousands of Subaru SUVs are the latest vehicles subject to a nationwide recall due to the potential they could unexpectedly catch fire. The auto giant announced a recall of 271,694 Subaru Ascent SUVs with produced in the 2019 through 2022 model years due to a faulty electrical grounding bolt that may have been improperly fastened, according to the company.
