Felon Arrested For Making Threats Against Himself, Family Members In St. Mary's County: Sheriff

A heavily-armed man who made threats of violence against himself and family members on Monday morning is in custody, according to a spokesperson from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.

Sean Michael Rice, 34, who is no stranger to law enforcement, is facing new charges following an incident that played out early on March 11 during an incident with his family. 

According to the sheriff's office, deputies were called to investigate the altercation, and it was determined that Rice was in possession of a rifle, handgun, and there was evidence of manufacturing firearms at his home.

The Great Mills resident was arrested and charged with :

  • Three counts of illegal firearm possession after being convicted of a crime of violence;
  • Rifle/shotgun possession with a felony conviction;
  • Three counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm;
  • Other related weapons offenses.

He is being held at the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center on a no-bond status. No details about his initial court appearance were provided by the sheriff's office.
