One person was killed and 18 others hospitalized when an SUV driver crashed into a Greyhound bus on Thursday morning in Howard County. Police say that at approximately 3:25 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, a driver in a Buick Enclave was traveling west in the eastbound lanes on Route 32 when it struck the bus, which had 38 passengers on board at the time of the collision. The driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene of the head-on crash, while 17 passengers and the driver of the Greyhound bus were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Police in Maryland are warning area residents to be on the lookout after a resident escaped from custody. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the Howard County Police Department were notified that Randy Morris, an inmate, escaped from a transport van. The 38-year-old - who was in custody for burglary - got away in the area of Dorsey Run Road and Route 32. A Jessup man is dead after losing control of his vehicle and running off the roadway in Howard County, authorities say. Ivan Claude Merrill Jr., 59, reportedly lost control of the vehicle on Route 1 near Route 32, landing in a wooded drainage area around 10:41 a.m., Monday, Aug. 29, according to Howard County police.
