The Prince George's County Council recently passed a bill that doubles the fine for violations set forth by the Nuisance Abatement Board, WTOP reports.

The bill would increase the fine from $500 to $1,000 and it's not just for poor landscaping or leaving trash outside. People involved with drugs, prostitution or any other illegal activity could be slapped with the frugal fine, the outlet reports.

This comes after a hearing last month opened the conversation up from local lawmakers.  The board has doled out nearly $50,000 in fines but has collected less than $12,000 of that amount. After the bill is signed, the fines with take effect in 45 days, WTOP says.
