A stolen vehicle investigation led to a foot chase and the discovery of a large quantity of drugs and weapons in Anne Arundel County, landing two residents with several charges, police said. Officers responded to a stolen vehicle report just before 1:15 p.m. on Friday, April 5 and saw a stolen Infiniti parked in a driveway on the 8200 block of Highpoint Road in Orchard Beach. A teen already on probation for a previous weapons charge has been identified and arrested for his role in the triple shooting in Charles County that left two victims dead and a third hospitalized with serious injuries. A Florida woman attempting to get onto a flight at Washington Dulles International Airport had an unexpected item in her carry-on bag that had to be confiscated by a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer. While conducting surveillance at the security checkpoint on Friday, Dec. 9, TSA officials say that the officer found a 9mm handgun in the woman’s bag, including one bullet in the chamber that could have accidentally gone off during the flight. A 20-year-old Maryland man will spend decades behind bars after being sentenced for murder and possession by explosives, the Frederick County State’s Attorney announced. Frederick resident Joshua Eckenrode was sentenced to a life sentence with all but 40 years suspended after pleading guilty to his role in the March 2021 death of Curtis Mason Smith. Alexandria Residents Stopped From Bringing Handguns Aboard DCA Flight: TSA
Two people were unable to carry their personal handguns on a flight leaving from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, officials reported. On Sept. 29, a woman was stopped with her .380 caliber gun, that was not loaded, and a man was stopped with his nine millimeter handgun, loaded with 14 bullets, according to TSA. The man also had an extra 14 bullets with him, authorities said. TSA said the two incidents were not related. After each incident, both individuals had their guns taken away and were dealt weapons charges by law enforcement, officials said.
