The crash involving several vehicles, including a pickup truck, happened in the 12,800 block of Connecticut Avenue near Atherton Drive in Glenmont around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, Montgomery County Fire officials said on Twitter.
Initial investigation revealed the truck was trying to turn left onto Connecticut Avenue from Atherton Drive when the driver of a Kia Optima collided with the truck at the intersection, Montgomery County Police said.
The two people inside the truck were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Kia and two juveniles were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as well while an additional juvenile passenger was transported for life-threatening-injuries, police said.
The incident shut down Connecticut Avenue in both directions. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 240-773-6620.
