20 Victims Displaced, Pets Lost In Massive Montgomery County Fire

Close to 100 firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire at a townhouse in Montgomery County that trapped several people in a basement, officials say.

The fire started around 4 a.m. on Jan. 17, in the 300 block of West Deer Park Road, in Gaithersburg.

No injures were reported, but several pets (cats and dogs) were unaccounted for as of 2 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, it caused about $1 million in damage and displaced close to 20 people, according to officials.
