Long-term substitutes who hold state teaching certificates will get a boosted hourly rate of $30.71, short-term substitutes will get $21.43 an hour, Montgomery Public Schools said.

For long-term substitutes without a state certification, they will see an increase to $28.43 an hour, short-term substitutes will receive $19.71 an hour.

The bump in pay for substitute teachers is a result of a memorandum of understanding signed by Montgomery County Public Schools and the Montgomery County Education Association.

The agreement will stay in effect until the end of the academic year.
