The HRA rescued a pregnant dog, known as Godiva, in mid-July, and tended for her throughout her pregnancy. Godiva gave birth to seven puppies in early August and was transferred to a foster home for the puppies to experience their first weeks of life in a more ideal environment. Later that month, Godiva was reported abandoned without her puppies, the HRA says.

Last week a search and seizure warrant was executed at the foster home, where only one of the seven puppies were found. Another puppy was reportedly found after a buyer came forward, reports WTOP.

The puppies are in critical danger being without their mother at such a young age. According to the HRA, puppies should not leave their mother until they are eight to ten weeks old. The HRA is urging those who may have information about Godiva's puppies to come forward so the remaining puppies in the litter have a chance to be saved.

A $7,500 reward for information leading to the location of or the safe return of any of the five missing puppies.

All tips can be anonymously reported to HRA at 202-723-5730, option 1.
