In Montgomery County, Nick’s Diner on Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, the restaurant's owners announced, citing a “severe staff shortage all around the country."

The eatery will now be open on Wednesday through Sunday, with its hours on Saturday slashed to 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the owners.

Nick’s Diner is now weeks from being a Montgomery County staple for four decades.

“It’s no secret that there is a severe staff shortage all around the country. We at Nick’s are no exception to this unfortunate circumstance,” the owners posted in a message to the community.

“It is our utmost priority to make sure our guests still receive top-notch service and food and that our current staff, who have been working tirelessly, are getting the rest and recharge they deserve and need.”
