A 15-year-old girl was killed in a Maryland townhouse fire Wednesday night, while two other victims were injured, police announced. The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services responded to the blaze on the 11500 block of Shell Flower Lane in Columbia around 7:30 p.m. March 20. Crews found heavy flames coming from the second story and brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes. An 8-year-old boy was one of three people found unconscious when firefighters battled the blaze at the 3400 block of E. Lombard Street in Southeast Baltimore Tuesday, Feb. 27. The boy died hours after he was rescued, while a 13-year-old girl and a 22-year-old man were taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. A Maryland family awoke to a tree crashing through the middle of their two-story home before dawn on Friday, March 1. The tree fell on a home on the 2900 block of Collins Avenue in Wheaton around 4:45 a.m., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service Spokesperson Pete Piringer said.
