Lorenzo Alexander Williams put police through their paces on Tuesday following a report of shots fired in the 400 block of Waverly Drive in Frederick.

According to a Frederick Police Department spokesperson, shortly before 11 p.m. on Jan. 2, officers were conducting a patrol check in the area after receiving a tip that Williams, 27, who was wanted for a felony assault charge, was in the area.

While conducting the check, officers reported hearing a series of gunshots in the area of Waverly Drive and Harlem Way, prompting a canvas of the area that led them to Williams.

Officers tracked him to a home in the 400 block of Harlan Way, where Williams was ultimately located, though he initially refused to cooperate with investigators.

Williams was eventually coaxed out of the residence and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Officials noted that as part of the investigation, two others were taken to the Frederick Police Department Headquarters for questioning regarding the incident.

Williams was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm within city limits, and illegal possession of a firearm.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

More information is expected to be released.
