Baltimore Man Accused Of Murdering Sheriff's Deputy In Maryland: Police A suspect is in custody after an off-duty Howard County Sheriff's deputy was shot and killed in Baltimore on Friday morning. City resident Jewel Crowder, 40, has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of 23-year-old Deputy Ryan Alexandr Demby, authorities announced. The Baltimore Police Department announced the arrest on Saturday.  Demby was in a bar shortly after midnight when an argument broke out between patrons, during which, Crowder allegedly pulled out a gun and began firing, striking the deputy several times.
