Lightning Strike Hits Tree, Sparks House Fire In Mount Airy: Investigators A lightning strike that spread to an underground gas line on the property of a Carroll County home nearly caused chaos for members of the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday morning. Prince George's County Home Struck By Lightning Catches Fire A home in Accokeek caught fire after being struck by lightning, authorities say. Crews were dispatched to battle a fire reported at the home in the 14400 block of Saint Gregory Way shortly before 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10, according to Prince George's County fire. Upon arrival, crews noticed smoke and flames coming from the attic and roof of the two-story home, believed to be caused by a lightning strike. The residents of the home were able to self-evacuate. No injuries were initially reported.

Contractor, Home Struck By Lightning In Baltimore During Storm Both a contractor and a home were struck by lightning during heavy storms in the Baltimore area, authorities say. The contractor was allegedly struck in the overnight hours of Thursday, Aug. 4, in the 8400 block of Walther Boulevard, according to Baltimore Fire officials.
