I-81 Traffic Creeps, Crawls Following 'Serious' Crash At PA/MD Line:PennDOT A serious crash on Interstate 81 caused some major deals near the Pennslyvania/Maryland state line on Monday, according to authorities.  The crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-81 at mile marker 10.3 in Guilford Township, Greencastle at 9:28 a.m. on March 11, according to PennDOT.  State police investigated the crash.  The number of vehicles involved and any injuries were not noted.  PennDOT expects residual delays.

RV Sparks Mile Long Brush Fire Halting Traffic On I-81 Near MD/PA Line: PennDOT (Video) An RV fire turned brush fire halted traffic on Interstate 81 near the Maryland and Pennsylvania state lines on Wednesday, authorities told Daily Voice.  The RV's brakes caught fire near 14: PA 316 - Wayne Avenue around 2:27 p.m. on Oct. 25, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Fritzi Schreffler explained.  The fire quickly spread causing "about a mile's worth of brush fires," she said noting that the "RV was pulling a vehicle and they (were both) fully engulfed in flames." Tractor-Trailer Driver ID'd After Falling On Tracks Below I-81 At MD/PA Line (Update) A tractor-trailer driver has died after driving off Interstate 81 — onto the train tracks below, authorities announced Monday night.   James C. Hayworth, 58, of Chatsworth, GA was trapped in his trailer after accidentally driving his vehicle off I-81 onto the train tracks below, the Pennsylvania State Police explained in a release the following morning.  He initially survived the crash and fall, so emergency crews made "many attempts" to rescue him. Pedestrian 'Incident' On I-81 At Maryland Border Clears: PennDOT Part of Interstate 81 shut down in Central Pennsylvania on Friday morning, according to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler.  The "pedestrian-related incident" happened at mile marker 1 on Sept. 22 shortly before 7:40 a.m., Schreffler detailed to Daily Voice.  The southbound lanes closed between exit 3 to Molly Pitcher Highway and the Maryland border, according to PennDOT.  The roadway reopened shortly after 9 a.m. "No more information will be released at this time," Schreffler said.

Mass Casualty: Victims ID'd In Tractor-Trailer V. RV Crash On I-81 (Update) All five people and a dog involved in a tractor-trailer and RV on Interstate 81 late on Wednesday night have died, authorities told Daily Voice.  Pennsylvania State Police and the families have identified the crash victims. The closure is at milemarker 35.5 in Penn Township, state police say.  No further information was available from the police. According to PennDOT, "northbound between Exit 29: PA 174 - KING ST and Exit: REST AREA." Is the affected area. The public is asked to avoid that stretch of the roadway.
