A Frederick County man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for killing a man who was set to be a witness at a drug-related hearing in 2019, authorities said. Lavonte Darnell Nash was sentenced Tuesday, Feb. 6 after pleading guilty to first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, conspiracy to participate in a criminal gang, participation in a criminal gang, and distribution of cocaine, the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office said. Two suspected thieves who fled from Pennsylvania State Police and died after crashing into "a body of water" have been identified, Trooper Megan Frazer told Daily Voice on Thursday. The fourth floor of a Baltimore courthouse has been locked down after a suspicious package was sent to the building, officials say. At around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday morning, the Baltimore City Sheriff's Office issued an alert advising that the Circuit Court building on North Calvert Street has been partially shut down and the fire department's HazMat Unit was called to the scene. A Maryland man with a checkered history will spend at least a decade behind bars for swindling former romantic partners and their families, the state’s Attorney General announced.
