Motorcyclist Killed After Going Off Road, Striking Telephone Pole, Maryland State Police Say

A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle overnight in Harford County, according to Maryland State Police.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on May 12, Maryland State Police troopers were called to the 2600 block of Whiteford Road, where it was determined Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania resident Jason Birley was riding a Honda motorcycle when he went off the roadway and struck a telephone pole.

Birley was pronounced dead at the scene by Harford County Emergency Medical Services personnel who responded to a crash on Sunday night.

It is unclear what caused Birley to go off road. The crash remains under investigation. 

While state police were at the scene Whiteford Road was temporarily closed for more than two hours.
