Funeral Services, Tribute Set For Police K9 Who Died In Line Of Duty In MD Special services have been arranged for a police K9 in Maryland who died while serving his community. Earlier this month, Kuno, a member of the Forest Heights Police Department who partnered with Sgt. Grooms for years, died in the line of duty assisting the Prince George's County Police Department during a call for service. Kuno was the original, longest-standing K9 in the department. The cause of death was determined to be heatstroke while searching a school building for a burglary suspect.
