Maxx Geiger, 12, was located with his father Christopher and family dog in Westminster just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, Maryland State Police said.

After crisis negotiations, both were taken into police custody and transferred to Carroll County Hospital for examination. Christopher now awaits charges per the Carroll County State Attorney's Office, police said.

Maxx was last seen getting picked up by his father from school in his black 2021 Jeep Wrangler on Friday, April 8, police said. When Maxx's mother called Hampstead police and informed them Maxx had never returned from school, an Amber Alert was activated and police started searching for Christopher's vehicle.

The Jeep was later found unoccupied in a parking lot in the 100 block of Kate Wagner Road in Westminster just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The father and son were found in a shed in a wooded about half a mile from the car around 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
