Dasean Matthews, 23, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 3 by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 2-year-old Mars Jones, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Toddler's Death Ruled Homicide By Assault In DC, Police Say The death of a Southwest DC toddler has been ruled a homicide after authorities say evidence points to an assault. Cops were called around 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 to the unit block of Atlantic Street on a report of an unconscious child, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Responding officers found an unresponsive 2-year-old boy, who was rushed to an area hospital by EMS workers.
