State Police Trooper Arrested By Members Of Anne Arundel County Police Department: Authorities

A veteran Maryland State Police trooper has been suspended with pay following his arrest by the Anne Arundel Police Department over the weekend, law enforcement officials confirmed.

Trooper First Class Ryan Bandy was arrested shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday, May 6 following an investigation into his alleged misdeeds, according to a state police spokesperson.

Specifically, Bandy was charged with:

  • False imprisonment;
  • Second-degree assault;
  • Fourth-degree sex offense.

He made his initial appearance before a district court commissioner and was released on his own recognizance. He has been suspended with pay.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is now leading the criminal investigation, while the administrative investigation has been launched by the Maryland State Police Internal Affairs Division.

No details of the offenses have been released by investigators.

Bandy has been a member of Maryland state Police for nine years and 10 months. He was most recently assigned to the Westminster barrack.
