Pasadena resident Jacob Joseph Muir was sentenced to seven years in federal prison, followed by 30 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to one count of receipt of child porn.

According to his plea agreement, between July and August 2019, Muir pretended to be a teenage boy to entice minors to send him sexually explicit photos through Instagram.

During the investigation into Muir, prosecutors say that it was later determined that he used multiple aliases to communicate with minors, directing and encouraging them to send him sexually graphic images of themselves.

In addition to his prison term, a judge also ordered that Muir register register as a sex offender when he is released, he is forbidden from having contact with children under 18, and he must undergo computer monitoring.
