Tufts Lacrosse: Doctors Weigh In On What Happened
A dozen of Tufts University's 50 lacrosse players were sidelined earlier this month with a muscle-destroying illness following a grueling workout led by a Navy SEAL, school officials said. As of press time three of the reigning NCAA Division III National Championship players remained in the hospital recovering from rhabdomyolysis, or, as it's more simply known, "rhabdo," Tufts officials said. Anheuser-Busch has alerted state officials that it plans to eliminate nearly 200 jobs at a facility in Medford later this year, reports said. 60 Bullets: Cambridge, Medford, Somerville Suffering Through Summer Of Shootings
Middlesex County authorities said they have seen six shootings over the past month, with as many as 60 shots being fired, damaging homes and cars and seriously injuring one person. “Every time a gun is illegally fired in our neighborhoods, it creates the risk of death or serious injury for innocent people," said Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. $1M Lottery Jackpot: Winner Finally Claims Payday 2 Months After $1B Drawing
The person in Medford who claimed a small portion of the $1 billion Powerball drawing earlier this year has collected their $1 million prize. They won the seven-figure sum in the mult-state Powerball drawing on April 3. Genesis X Trust of Quincy claimed the prize on behalf of the winner. Their name was not released. Medford IT Director Stole From Law School To Fund His Band Sloth Machine: DA
A 52-year-old Medford man was arraigned on Wednesday, June 12, after police said he stole more than $65,000 worth of Amazon purchased, many of which were used for his band Sloth Machine. Gareth Flanagan, of Medford, is charged with three counts of larceny over $1,200, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said. Flanagan worked as the IT Director for the New England School of Law, where he had access to purchase things on the school's Amazon account below $5,000 without prior approval.
