Man With History Of Assaulting Police Arrested On 16 Charges - Including A&B On An Officer
A 34-year-old man with a history of fighting police officers was recently arrested on 16 charges after allegedly stealing a snowblower, ramming a van into a snowbank, hiding from the police, and attempting to steal a cop’s weapon. The scuffle between officer and suspect took place on Saturday, March 6, as police attempted to break up an alleged burglary. Cause Of Blaze At Firefighter's Home Determined
The cause of a fire at a local firefighter's home has been determined. On Tuesday, Feb. 23, the Massachusetts Fire Marshal’s Office said that officials had discovered the cause of a Feb. 18 house fire at 26 Runaway Brook Road in Lancaster. Lancaster Fire Chief Michael Hanson said the cause was the failure of the woodstove pipe. The fire began while residents Charles Dunnigan and Leila Wendler were out at a store. Staff Death At Massachusetts Elementary School Is Under Investigation
Police are investigating a death discovered at a small Central Massachusetts elementary school. On Thursday, Feb. 11, a member of the Templeton Elementary School’s psychology team was found dead at the school, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. News of the death was first circulated by Narragansett Regional School District Superintendent Chris Casavant in a letter home to the school community. The Worcester District Attorney has released the identity of the woman who died in Sunday’s Route 2A car crash. The victim was a Templeton emergency medical technician Tracy Ferrazza, 52, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. Both drivers have died following a head-on motor vehicle collision on Route 16 Wednesday. On Thursday, Dec. 3, authorities said that both drivers had been killed in the crash, which involved a dump truck and a car, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. Police have identified the man who died when an excavator he was operating rolled over and down a ravine on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Sten R. Brote, 66, of Sutton, died in the excavator accident on Leland Hill Road, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. Two People Accused Of Strangling Dog To Death Are Arrested
Police have arrested two people suspected of choking a dog to death because it wouldn’t go to sleep. Ryan Fisher, 41, and Jacqueline Baldina, 58, both of Morris Street in Southbridge, were arrested Tuesday, Sept. 29, for animal cruelty, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. Southbridge Police said they became aware of the violence following an anonymous tip to the department’s tip411 app back in August. Worcester-To-Boston Commuter Train Will Start Earlier In A.M., Resume Service Soon
Commuter train services between Worcester and Boston are set to resume in a little under 2 months - and the rides will start earlier in the morning. And a stop is being added in Framingham. The “Heart to Hub” express train will start running again on Nov. 2 around 7:30 a.m. - or earlier. Commuters should arrive in Boston by 8:30 a.m. or 9 a.m., according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. Schedules will be finalized in September. More Than 50 Complaints Filed Against City's Police In 2019
More complaints were filed against Worcester Police officers last year than 2018. Still, it was fewer than the average number of complaints filed with the city.
