Existing-Home Sales Plummet 8.4% In January As Prices Keep Climbing: 'Americans Are Stuck' Existing-home sales plunged across the US in January in the latest sign of strain on the nation's real estate market, according to new data. Sales dropped 8.4% from December 2025 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.91 million in January, the National Association of REALTORS said in a report released on Thursday, Feb. 12. That's also 4.4% lower than January 2025 and the slowest pace since December 2023.
