George W. Stanton Highway’s eastbound lane after Exit 36 (Shirley Street) was backed up all the way to the 190 on-ramps. The reason for the gridlock is not yet clear. Traffic Update: Gas Leak Closes Part of Route 146 In Millbury For At Least Another Hour Traffic has come to a halt after a gas main was struck this morning, July 27, by contractors working near Route 146, Exit 10 onto Route 20, and the Mass Pike. The Fire Department is on scene mitigating the leak. Northbound travel lanes on Route 146 are closed and traffic is being diverted to Exit 9. Firefighters estimate that the leak won't be under control for at least another hour. Traffic is backed up for miles.  The story will be updated as more information becomes available.
