Bank Robbery: Man Arrested 30 Minutes After Western Mass Heist, Police Say A 59-year-old man was arrested only about 30 minutes after he allegedly held up a Hampden County bank, authorities said.  Richard Villeneuve, 59, of Springfield, is charged with unarmed robbery in the Friday, March 17th heist, Springfield police said on Monday.  Officers said Villeneuve entered the TD Bank at 441 Cooley Street around 4:40 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding cash. Massachusetts Man Indicted For Bank Robbery A Massachusetts man with a lengthy rap sheet is facing more time in prison after being busted for an alleged bank robbery in Cambridge, federal prosecutors announced. Boston resident Jamaal Copeland, age 49, was indicted by a federal grand jury in connection to the robbery of a TD bank branch in the region. The robbery took place in Springfield around 9:15 a.m., Saturday, April 9 at the bank located on the 500 block of Sumner Avenue.   A teller told officers one of the suspects handed over a note demanding money and implying that he had a gun, said Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police. The bank robberies happened at TD Bank in Worcester and East Boston Savings Bank in Revere. Samuel Jose Baptista, 27, of Boston, was sentenced on Thursday, Oct. 29, to prison as well as restitution of the money stolen from the banks - about $30,000 - and two years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts.
