Man Who Shot Mass Trooper During Fight In Springfield Gets 15 Years: DA A Springfield man who shot a Massachusetts state trooper on New Year's Eve 2020 will spend the next 12 to 15 years behind bars, a judge ruled on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Christopher Gardner, 34, was accused of shooting the state trooper around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2020.
